Royal Ascot shines under the summer sun

Royal Ascot can be described as many things: firstly, horse racing graced by the presence of the King and Queen (pictured below), secondly, "Downton Abbey" but with escalators and Range Rovers, and thirdly, probably the greatest catwalk in the world.  

Around 70,000 people packed Ascot racecourse on Thursday for Ladies' Day.  With top hats and morning suits mandatory for gentlemen in the Royal Enclosure, and the most stylish and elegant of outfits for the ladies (hats also mandatory), it truly was "Vogue Magazine meets Downton Abbey" on an epic scale!

There are still some things that Britain does exceptionally well, even if the list does seem to get shorter every year.

Back to the real world, we were lucky to have JP Morgan's research team visit Guernsey and give us their views of the world economy.  There were several interesting insights and slides.  In no particular order, I summarize below (all charts are source JP Morgan):
